Since 1858, the YWCA has provided programming and active advocacy for women's rights and civil rights. From lobbying for pay equity and hate crimes legislation to the increased funding for Head Start and the Violence Against Women Act, the YWCA advocates on Capitol Hill while employees and volunteers empower women and girls in our communities.
As the need for services for the community has grown, the YWCA has responded with new and expanded programs to meet those needs. Yet there is a continuous need for volunteers and funding to support the community. Receiving the Wilcox & Associates scholarship will provide needed knowledge and skills to improve outreach and donor development efforts.
Amanda Ceravolo, Vice President, Development & Communications with YWCA North Central Indiana will be participating in the scholarship program and had this to say:
"YWCA North Central Indiana serves thousands of women and children each in our domestic violence and sexual assault programs. We operate two emergency shelters and are desperately trying to increase private support to be less reliant on sometimes unpredictable federal grants. We would benefit greatly from Sandler training in a variety of areas including "needing more complex and high dollar donations," time management, and "building better relationships with the proper people."
